Where are you originally from (born and raised)?
I was born and raised in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico, and arrived in the U. S. about ten years ago.
Tell us a little bit about your background… what did you do before joining GPC?
Prior to joining Grameen Promotoras I worked as a community health worker at Coalicion Mexicana, where I coordinated workshops and also delivered courses on topics such as health promotion and immigration and labor rights.
What is your favorite part of your job?
When I arrived in this country I suffered quite a few difficulties as an immigrant, but with time and effort I overcame them. As a consequence, I developed a strong interest in helping immigrants who were going through tough times just like I had. That is actually my favorite part of my job, looking for resources for the community and connecting them.
If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
If I had the opportunity to travel anywhere in the world it would be the Middle East; I would love to see Israel and Jerusalem in particular.
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
I like to make designs on walls with paint as a way of interior decorating.
Define yourself in three words.
Authentic, optimistic, practical.
